Movement of the blood between the body and heart.

Introduction

The heart is a muscular organ, which is the central organ of the circulatory system. The main function of the heart is to pump the blood in the body through the blood vessels. The human heart consists of four chambers, two atria, and two ventricles, the auricles receives the blood from the body and lungs and the ventricles pump blood to the lungs and body.

The blood is the connective fluid, which circulates through the blood vessels in the body. The heart is the central organ of the circulatory system and it pumps the blood to the lungs and the body.

The auricles are the receiving chambers of the heart. The left atrium of the heart receives the blood from the lungs and pass it down to the left ventricle. From the left ventricle, the blood is pumped to the systemic circulation through aorta. The aorta sends blood to the arteries, which delivers oxygen to the tissues. After delivering oxygen the blood is transferred to the veins and return to the heart through the vena cava. The vena cava pours the blood into the right auricle, from there the blood is transferred to the right ventricle. From the right ventricle, the blood is pumped to the lungs for oxygenation.

The pathway of the blood flow from the heart to the body is given as follows:

Vena cava ➝ right atrium ➝ right ventricle ➝ pulmonary artery ➝ pulmonary vein/(lungs) ➝ left atrium ➝ left ventricle ➝ aorta ➝arteries ➝ arterioles ➝ capillaries ➝ venules ➝ veins ➝ vena cava
