Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

A projectile motion is defined as the motion under gravity (only).

When a ball is thrown upwards, its velocity decreases at a constant rate (gravitational acceleration) and reaches to zero at the maximum height. Then, the velocity starts increasing again as the ball falls back.

Acceleration due to gravity always acts downwards. The acceleration of the ball remains constant through out the motion.
