Concept explainers
To research:The behavior of ring-tailed lemurs.
Concept introduction: Lemurs are the mammals coming from the order of Primates. They are mostly the native of Madagascar Island. They usually sleep on trees at night to stay safe from predators. The ring-tailed lemurs are engaged in a behavior called sunning where they expose their white belly to the sun to get warm, this keeps them healthy.
Explanation of Solution
Lemurs are primates found only on the African island of Madagascar. Ring-tailed lemurs use their long, striped, black and white tail for catching things they need.
The male lemur performs scent-marking behavior where they participate in stink fights with their tail wafting it at opponents. The ring-tailed lemur uses numerous vocalizations as group cohesion and alarm calls.
Lemurs use their hands and feet to move through the trees and do not use their tails much. They can survive on products like fruits, leaves, flowers, tree bark, etc.
