Introduction:

Polysaccharides are formed by long chains of simple monomeric units of monosaccharides. Some examples of polysaccharides are glycogen, starch, cellulose, and chitin. Some of these polysaccharides (starch and glycogen) act as energy reservoirs, while some others (cellulose and chitin) act as structural components of cells forming the cell wall.
