Chapter 29.10, Problem 1MQ
Summary Introduction
Helicobacter pylori is a motile, Gram-negative, spiral-shaped bacterium. It is associated with ulcers, gastritis, and gastric ulcer. It colonizes the upper intestinal tract and stomach’s non-acid-secreting mucosa. It is estimated that half of the world’s population is frequently infected with Helicobacter pylori, in which about 80% of the population is infected by gastric ulcer. Nonhuman reservoir is absent in transmitting the Helicobacter pylori infections.
