How many follicles begin to develop in each cycle of folliculogenesis; how many of them normally ovulate; what happens to the rest, and what that fate is called.
Introduction:
Folliculogenesis in biology is the process in which the ovarian follicles mature. The ovarian follicles are tightly filled with shell of somatic cells containing immature oocytes. The small primordial follicles develop into large pre-ovulatory follicles during a portion of the menstrual cycle.
