Nitrogen is obtained through protein-rich diets. Nitrogen is eliminated from the body through excretion as nitrogenous wastes. Nitrogen balance is a state of the body wherein the ingestion of nitrogen is equal to the excretion of nitrogen. There is a positive as well as a negative nitrogen balance.
