Introduction:
Genes are segments of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) that can code for a specific protein. They act as the blueprint for all organs and tissues. The different variant forms of genes are called alleles, and they always exist in a pair in an individual. Alleles allow a variety of combinations, such as a homozygous allele and a heterozygous allele.
