Introduction:

CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) and vCJD (variant CJD) are the examples of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in humans. Transmission of these diseases to humans occursby the consumption of an infected meat. Epidemiologically, prions or PrP(proteinaceous infectious particles) are the major cause of spongiform encephalopathy. They multiply during the disease incubation period and cause misfolding of the cellular proteins present of the neural surface resulting in the fatality. Both CJD and vCJD are strikingly different from each other in terms of the brain pathology, symptoms, and the age of onset.
