Introduction: The half-life is defined as the time required for an amount to decrease to half of the value that is initially present. The actual ages of fossils and rocks are determined by radiometric dating. Every radioactive isotope has a rate of decay that is fixed. Its half-life is the number of years that occurs for 50 percentage of an isotope of the “parent” to decay.
