Once viruses invade a host, they take over the host’s cellular and genetic machinery to complete their multiplication cycles. These cycles maybe lytic, characterized by rupture of host cells; or latent in which the virus infects the host cell without showing any symptoms. Many viral infections are preventable by vaccination.
