Dictyostelium discoideum belongs to the phylum Amoebozoa. It is generally referred to as cellular slime molds. Dictyostelium discoideum use endocytosis to feed on yeasts and bacteria. The life cycle of Dictyostelium discoideum is complex and it comprises true multicellularity, in spite of their primitive evolutionary position.
