Introduction:
Surfactant is an oily secretion of the phospholipids and proteins, which prevents the alveoli from collapsing. It is secreted by the pneumocytes-II layer in the lungs. The alveoli of the lungs become exposed to the air for the exchange of the gases. This layer interacts with the water molecules and removes the air bubbles in the respiratory system.
