Introduction:

Leukocytes help in initiating an immune response and protect the body from the pathogens. They contain a nucleus and cellular organelles. They are about 1.5 to 3 times larger in diameter than erythrocytes. They do not have hemoglobin. The five types of leukocytes are categorized into two distinct classes based upon the presence or absence of visible organelles called granules- granulocytes and agranulocytes.
