Explanation of Solution
Two opposing mating strains one (+) and one (−) come be in close to each other and forms gametangium from the mating hyphae having haploid nucleus. The two gamemtagia fuse and the haploid nuclei from each gametangium fuse to form a diploid zygote. The zygote develops a thick wall and becomes a dormant zygospores. They remain dormant until environmental conditions become favorable. When the zygospore germinates, it undergoes meiosis and produces haploid spores, which will, in turn, grow into a new organism. This form of sexual reproduction called conjugation.
