The atoms combine together with similar atoms or with the atoms of other elements. They do so to achieve stability. The bond formation depends on the way the electrons react with the electrons of other atoms. Such bonds are quite strong in nature and do not break down easily. However, there are other bonds also that do not involve electrons.
