Explanation of Solution

A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances. Based on the concentration of the solutes in a mixture, the solute can be defined as hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic.

A hypotonic solution is a mixture, in which the amount of solute is less than as compared to the other mixture. In biology, a hypotonic solution is generally said to be a mixture that has a low concentration of salts as compared to a cell.
