Chapter 19, Problem 2CQ
Explanation of Solution
Systems development methodologies:
Systems development methodology is a set of framework which ensures proper planning of system development; this methodology includes structuring, planning and designing the process of developing a system.
There are several different systems development methodologies including
- Agile methodology
- Agile methodology is an iterative process; it ensures the continuous delivery of software components with a design point which uses a minimum requirement to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Waterfall methodology
- This methodology is an activity based linear sequential design approach. All the phases from planning to implementation and maintenance are performed sequentially, where output of one phase becomes input to the next phase.
- Rapid application development(RAD) methodology
- RAD ensures rapid development and iterative high quality delivery rather than the traditional method by using tools and predefined prototype techniques. It reduces the build time and accelerates the system development process with extensive user involvement...

Identify a suitable iterative methodology for the scenario given below and justify your choice. Critically evaluate the different stages of the iterative methodology chosen by mapping on to the given scenario. Identify, explain and draw the main use cases of the scenario.
Assume that you are working as a project manager in a reputed organization and you have been assigned with a new project to develop a suitable system for the following scenario.
A leading job recruitment and training institution in Oman would like to develop a system to manage all their functional requirements like upload the current job requirements as well the courses they have offered. The website can be used by the job seekers as well as for trainees to take up a training on any course they are offering. The system should have the features for the clients to Sign in, register, Upload CV, apply for an existing job. The website should also show all the information about a course such as course name, duration,…
When comparing the utilization of a pre-built model versus starting a project from scratch, it is important to consider the advantages and disadvantages associated with each approach.

In the “Justification of Methodology or Combination of Methodologies” column, write a reflection (50-100 words) for each story problem that addresses the following: What is the specific problem in the scenario? Why did you choose the methodology or combination of methodologies? Because there is not necessarily one right or wrong answer, it is important to provide a clear justification for your choice. - An agile project's documentation consists of user stories and test cases. A user story specifies a feature that a user needs, while a test is an executable form of a user story and, as such, is directly connected to the user narrative that it describes. Early testing is critical in agile development. As part of the agile development process, it is recommended that acceptance tests be written for each user story before any code is written. Take a look at the following scenario using a university's Student Information System: A university student may use the system to register for courses and make payments online. Please submit at least FIVE user stories as part of the acceptance test for the aforementioned scenario.
