Question
Chapter 19, Problem 19.9YT
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Whether Suzuki reaction or Heck reaction should be used to produce the single bond between the two phenyl rings in biphenyl, C6H5iC6H5, is to be determined. Also, what would the precursors is to be determined.
Concept introduction:
There are several variations of the Suzuki reaction, but in the general reaction, a vinylic or aryl halide is treated with an organoboron compound and a palladium catalyst (PdLn) under basic conditions. Suzuki reactions involving possible E/Z isomerism usually proceed with retention of configuration. Similar to the Suzuki reaction, the Heck reaction can couple one vinylic or aryl group to another.

The question is: "Draw the curved arrow mechanism for the reaction between pentan-2-one and (CH3)3O– in t-butanol to form an enolate. Draw all electrons and charges on both resonance structures. Then answer the question about the reaction."
I got the initial arrows correct, but am not entirely sure what the carbanion intermediate would look like and then what the curved arrows would be to convert it to its final oxanion form
