Concept explainers
The type of image produced by the objective lens in a refracting telescope.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Refracting telescope is an optical telescope in which lens is used as its objective to form an image of an object under observation. Objective lens bends the light rays that are parallel to the optic axis of the lens and focuses them in to a focal point.
Refracting telescope is composed of two lenses. Objective lens is the first lens. This forms the real and inverted image inside the focal length of eyepiece, which is the second lens. The real image produced by an objective lens acts as an object for the second lens (eyepiece). Eyepiece produces a virtual and magnified image that can be seen by an observer.
