Where,

  Ki is the kinetic energy.

  Ui is the potential energy.

The velocity of the electron is v=2eVm

Where,

  e is the charge of an electron. i.e. 1.6×10-19C .

  V is the voltage applied.

  m is the mass of electron i.e. 9.11×10-31kg .

Time taken to travel a distance of L meters by an electron in the electric field is t=Lv

The electric force acting on the electron along the field (E) is

As per Newton’s second law:

  F=ma

The acceleration, a=eEm

The velocity of the deflected electron is v=eEtm

Where, t is the time period

Calculation:

The distance from the center of the screen to the bright spot on screen where the electron hit is

The velocity of the electron is

The time taken to travel a distance of 0.026 m is

The time taken to travel a distance of 0.34 m is

The electric field is given by
