Chapter 16.2, Problem 5ELO
Summary Introduction
To determine:
Mechanism of immediate allergies and the concepts of IgE, mast cells, sensitization, and provocation.
Introduction:
Primary contacts with the allergens followed by sensitization and provocation stage, it further leads to the production of immunoglobulin and cytokines manifested by allergic reactions. The physiological effect of sensitization is IgE-mediated; whereas, mast cells and basophils are brought about degranulation and release of cytokines to cause allergic symptoms.
