Concept Introduction:
Organic molecules aregenerally represented bya structural formula, condensed structural formula and line structures.
The structural formula represents the order in which the atoms are arranged. In a condensed structural formula the bonds are not shown and identical units are represented as groups.
Line structures are based on structural formulas in which the symbols for carbon are not shown and the bonds between carbon and hydrogen atoms are removed.
