Summary Introduction
Cytophaga is the main genera of order Cytophagales. Cytophagas are slender, long, Gram-positive rods, containing pointed ends and they use gliding movement for motion. It degrades complex polysaccharides and widely present in freshwaters and toxic soils.
Bacteroides are Gram-negative, non-endospore forming, obligate anaerobic bacteria. They usually present in the human colon as normal microbiota. It can cause infection, if it enters into the surrounding tissue following trauma or surgery or bloodstream.
