Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Sleep is a condition of temporary unconsciousness; it is disturbed when one is stimulated. Circadian rhythm is one of the body functions that are used to regulate the sleep–wake cycles. Sleep is different from that of prolonged coma and animal hibernation. Sleep triggers inhibition of muscle activities. Sleep is recorded in EEG that shows four levels of sleep. If a person reading a novel goes to sleep, this occurs gradually and reaches the rapid eye movement (REM) sleep with a dream.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that disrupts neural activities and causes recurrent seizures. About 70% of people with epilepsy can be treated with medication to prevent seizures from occurring. If medication does not work, surgery is an option for some patients. One of the procedures involves cutting the brain so that the seizures cannot be spread to other parts of the brain.
A common goal of the surgical procedure to treat epileptic seizures is to reduce the connection between the two hemispheres of the brain. By cutting through this structure, an epileptic seizure occurring on one side of the brain will not be spread to the other side.
Identify the structure that connects the two hemispheres of the brain.
Suppose you are reading a novel and gradually fall asleepand begin to dream. How would your brain waves changeduring this sequence of events?
Immediately before falling asleep, the EEG waves shift to patterns of larger and slower
brain waves called which of the following?
Alpha.
Beta.
O Delta.
Gamma.
