Explanation of Solution
Any substance that possesses a solid state has a distinct volume and shape. Solids contain molecules that are fixed in place and close together. Although the molecules are still capable of vibrating, they are unable to migrate from one region of the solid to another. Thus, a solid cannot simply alter its shape or volume as a result.
