Expert Solution & Answer

Answer to Problem 9RAT

The correct option for the statement, “Red, green, and blue light overlap to form” is option (d).

Explanation of Solution

The color of an object appears due to the reason that the object reflects only that color, and the rest is absorbed by it. There are several colors in nature, but the primary additive colors are Red, Blue, and Green. A mixture of these colors in different ratio and proportions give rise to several colors. The addition of additive primary color can produce any color in the spectrum.

White light is formed when all these three primary colors are mixed. Different “whites” exist, depending on the proportion of a mixture of colors. Therefore, the overlap region of Red, Green, and Blue colors is of white color.

Conclusion:

Therefore the correct option for the statement, “Red, green, and blue light overlap to form” is option (d).
