Answer to Problem 16RQ

The mixing of cyan and red color formed a single white color that’s why they are called the complementary colors.

Explanation of Solution

When a pair of color mixed together to create a grayscale color such as white or black, then these types of colors are known as complementary colors. When the red and the cyan color are added together, the white color is produced due to there mixing. So the cyan color, which is formed due to the mixing of blue and green color, complements the red color to become the white color. This is the reason due to which it is called the complementary color of red.

Similarly, the magenta color is complementary of the green color because it produces white color when mixed with the green color and so yellow is complementary of the blue color.

Conclusion:

Therefore, the mixing of cyan and red color formed a single white color that’s why they are called the complementary colors
