Explanation of Solution

The given equation is:

  2H2S+O22H2O+2S

Equation shows 2L of hydrogen sulfide forms 2LH2O

Therefore 6.5LH2S will be form water vapor:

  6.5LH2S=6.5LH2S×2LH2O2LH2S

      =6.5LH2O

Now the mass of water vapor can be calculated by the number of moles which is calculated by using the ideal gas equation.

According to this law,

  PV=nRT

Or

  n=PVRT

Given data is:

  V=6.5L

  P=2atm

  R=0.0821LatmK-1mol-1

  T=290K

Now substituting the values into the formula,

n=PVRT

  =2×6.50.0821×290

  =0.54mol

The molar mass of water is 18 g/mol.

Mass of water vapor is given by:

m=M×n

  =18×0.54

  =9.72g
