Summary Introduction

Introduction:

HIV virus causes severe immune deficiency in host which leads to other opportunistic infections.

Case summary:

A 40 year old man acquires positive HIV associated with the symptoms, such as abdominal pain, fatigue and low grade fever for 2 weeks. His chest X-ray reveals lung infiltrate and staining shows negative for Gram and acid fast stain. The viral culture of his sputum sample reveals that the causative organisms are large, enveloped polyhedral virus with double stranded DNA.

A student completed a plate and liquid lysate followed by a plaque assay. The volume harvested for the plate lysate was 5.5mL and had a titre of 1.8x10^10 PFU/mL. The volume harvested for the liquid lysate was 9.5mL and had a titre of 1.1x10^10 PFU/mL. Which of these lysates had the highest viral yield?     Liquid lysate had the highest yield     Plate lysate had the highest yield     They both have the same yield
One of the important tissues in our body is fluid tissue. Relate this tissue withCOVID-9 patients and answer your questions related to this.a) Explain the possible components in tissue fluid that may be affected by this virus?Justify the complications.b) Explain what type of condition it causes to fluid tissue. c) Discuss why the cancer patients are more susceptible to this virus.
The plaque assay plate below was made from a dilution of 10-7 and 0.1 ml of the dilution was plated on the cell monolayer. What is the virus titer in PFU/ml? Note: 10e1 means 10 to the first power, etc. Select all answers that apply.
