The kinetic molecular theory is the key to understanding of the behavior of gases on the basis of kinetic energy. This kinetic molecular theoryis based on four assumptions that describe the behavior of gases. They are as follows:
The molecules of a gas arelooselypacked, and so, the volume occupied by its molecules is negligible.
The molecules of gases move ina random manner, on a straight path, and collide with external materials and one another without the loss of energy, that is, elastic collision.
Their molecules do not attract or repel each other.
The average kinetic energy of gas molecules is in direct proportionality with the absolute temperature of the molecules. Therefore,
