The KM manager will perform various tasks to ensure that GDD's knowledge assets are efficiently managed and leveraged for competitive advantage. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Developing and implementing a comprehensive KM plan that aligns with GDD's strategic objectives and business processes. • Creating and managing a knowledge repository for GDD's knowledge assets, including documents, procedures, guidelines, and best practices. • Facilitating communities of practice to encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration across departments. • Conducting training and awareness programs to promote a knowledge-sharing culture within GDD. • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the KM program and making necessary adjustments.   The decision to hire a KM manager is driven by several KM issues facing GDD, including: • Loss of personnel: GDD is facing a significant challenge of retaining talented employees due to the lack of a systematic approach to knowledge management. By hiring a KM manager, GDD aims to stem the tide of good people leaving the company. • Production or company performance glitches: GDD has experienced several production and performance glitches due to the lack of a unified knowledge repository and inefficient knowledge sharing. A KM manager will help address these issues and ensure that the company’s knowledge assets are leveraged for continuous improvement and innovation (Dalkir, 2011). • IT cannot run the KM program: While IT can manage the technical aspects of knowledge management, it lacks the domain expertise and strategic vision required to create and implement a comprehensive KM plan (Zyngier, 2001). To meet these challenges, the KM manager must possess the following skills: Immediate KM Skills: • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders across departments and levels. • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to identify, capture, and leverage GDD's knowledge assets. • Familiarity with various knowledge management tools and technologies.   Future KM Skills: • Knowledge of emerging KM trends, including AI, machine learning, and natural language processing (Rhem, 2017). • Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools to extract insights from knowledge assets. • Understanding of the importance of cultural considerations in knowledge management, including cross-cultural communication and collaboration (Dalkir, 2011).   These skills are critical for GDD's KM manager to effectively manage knowledge assets and create a sustainable competitive advantage for the organization. SUBJECT: Request for New KM Manager Position

Dear Mr. Rockfish,

I am pleased to inform you that the Board has approved the proposal for a new KM manager position for Global Delivery Direct (GDD). The position will be crucial in creating and implementing the organization's comprehensive knowledge management (KM) plan. The new KM manager will be an essential team member, contributing to running an effective and sustainable contemporary business environment.

The KM manager will perform various tasks to ensure that GDD's knowledge assets are efficiently managed and leveraged for competitive advantage. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive KM plan that aligns with GDD's strategic objectives and business processes.

The decision to hire a KM manager is driven by several KM issues facing GDD, including:

• Loss of personnel: GDD is facing a significant challenge of retaining talented employees due to the lack of a systematic approach to knowledge management.

To meet these challenges, the KM manager must possess the following skills:

Immediate KM Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders across departments and levels.

• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to identify, capture, and leverage GDD's knowledge assets.

• Familiarity with various knowledge management tools and technologies.

Future KM Skills:

• Knowledge of emerging KM trends, including AI, machine learning, and natural language processing (Rhem, 2017).

Thank you for your consideration of this request. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Jane Clive
