Criteria for the company:
- Needs to be a company in the GTHA. You will need to visit them a few times.
- Needs to have less than 30 employees.
- Needs to have over 30 customers.
- The company needs to have an active revenue stream.
- The company cannot belong to any friends or family members.
Tips:
- Choose your business carefully. Think about the groups your team belongs to and groups you’re passionate about.
- Remember that you will be positioning yourselves as a separate stand-alone company. So make sure you think about all the things we covered in the Business Model Canvas and how you can serve more than just that one company you chose.
- You will need to choose a SDG related solution in the future phases. Think about businesses that are already working towards SDG’s or could have SDG’s involved in their process.
- Your chosen company could be in any field, but be careful choosing non-profits, NGO’s, etc. It requires significant research to see how they operate (they still need to make revenue) but have their own unique barriers to solutions they can adopt and the speed they make decisions.
- Look into various ways to do research about a business to find if they meet the above criteria. (hint: use ChatGPT to ask directly or where you can find that information
