MRP Services – South African National Blood Services (SANBS)
SANBS is not-for-profit organisation which provides an essential service in South Africa. It is
rated among the best in the world in the provision of blood and blood products as well as in
the research and training provided. SANBS operate across all South Africa but excluding the
Western Cape. SANBS aims to collect an average of 3000 units of blood every day nationally.
It is through planned sustainable blood drives at companies organisations and institutions that
we are able to achieve this collection target. An MRP would be used by SANBS to plan the
requirements for the blood drives planned for the month of March at local shopping malls for
example , SANBS would use the MRP to calculate the quantity of items required such as but
not limited to gloves needles and medical beds. The goal of MRP is to ensure the right
materials required for successful blood drive are available at the right time to ensure a smooth
delivery of services.
