As a Human Resources Technician, communicating through writing and speaking are equally as important. Aside from the obvious situations that require memorandum, standard operating procedure, or other written communication, there are many situations when writing is more appropriate than speaking. Writing is the better option in situations requiring documented proof of communication, when you want to give a reference for later on, or when you want to organize your thoughts in a specific manner. With that said, when you put something in writing, it is documented proof of what you said; therefore, it should always be professional. You always want to write in a setting with minimal distractors where you are able to focus and give your undivided attention to conveying the intended …show more content…
Furthermore, you want to ensure that you have enough time not only to write, but also to review. Part of being professional when you write includes proofreading to make sure that you did not make any grammatical, spelling, or typographical errors. Consistently making simple, easy to correct errors may give the impression that you do not care about what you are trying to covey or about how others perceive you. Lastly, you always want to write with a clear mind and preferably, when rested. When you are emotional, you could be writing things that you may not necessarily mean to say or in a tone possibly perceived as rude, or whinny. When you write while you are tired, you may not convey your point clearly and you are more likely to make and overlook mistakes. Overall, you want to write in a setting conducive of concentration and be fully attentive to the
Writing is an amazing way to communicate, express ideas, and convince others of how the writer is feeling. For some, writing might be a requirement, fun, relaxing, a chore. Whatever it may be, writing is influential, for the writer and the reader.
As the 19th century came to a close a new epoch, known as the Progressive Era emerged in response to industrialization. This early 20th century reform movement pursued control of the government to the people. In order to reinstate economic opportunities and to correct inequity in American life. Progressives believed that government could be used as a powerful tool for social improvement (Gillon, Matson 2009). Although the Progressive ideal was presented by numerous Progressive authors of different genre, together they all presented the impact of the economic, political, social, and moral reforms of the American Society.
As a leader in my organization, I must have clear communications both oral and written. My passion to help others has given me a drive to communicate efficiently and effectively with my organization and external stakeholders. My writing style is to be clear and concise and do not mislead the reader. I also research my topic to ensure I understand the subject before I begin to write my communication.
Being able to articulate your words in such a way that captures the true brilliance of a mind at work is very important. Writing seems to happen both instantaneously and with much forethought. As each writer deepens their prowess in literature they develop certain techniques that help them when writing. These techniques may very depending desire of the outcome. This is true for myself. There are three things that I find to be very important when i'm writing any sort of paper. Listening to music, making a an outline as detailed as needed for it it will carry me through the extent of the paper, and the final step is xxxxxx.
big impression on who it is that you are writing to. Being able to properly explain
I feel that keeping the order of how writing should be done is important and helpful. I think that the best way to get students to understand how things really work with the writing process is to complete a paper with them, using all the steps of the writing process. Show them how it goes and how frustrating it can be for you as a teacher. Once they see that you had a hard time, but in the end had a good result then they will know that no matter what they can do it do. Having them to help you along the way will help too. I never learn by just watching so i am sure plenty of students need to get involved in the lesson. I will teach the students the three ways to do prewriting and allow them to choose what they prefer to use. Rough drafting might
The third tip that is mentioned is Write from your emotions because if you become emotionally involved with the topic/subject, and you truly feel what you are writing you will forget to be self-conscious about the writing. These tips are effective because they provide you with ways of handling yourself when writing because when you are constantly self-doubting, or hitting a “road block” with being creative there is now a method to overcome
The author, David Smith argued that it is important for students that are science majors to become effective writers because “writing for a broad audience honed my research writing skills, allowing me to make my results and conclusions more accessible, relevant, and impactful, which arguably did help advance my career.” By practicing writing papers that were meant for larger audiences than just a student’s professor or classmates, the student is inevitably being taught writing skills that will transcend into all other areas of their study. When they write short stories, they are learning how to create flow and intrigue in their writing, that can also be used for their results and conclusions for research papers. Even without intentionally
As the semester comes to an end, there are many skills I have obtained and learning objectives I have achieved. There are four assignments from this semester that I feel show the skills I have obtained. The first skill I feel I have obtained is understanding professional communications, which also goes with learning objective one. This objective states, develop and design workplace documents that demonstrate understanding of professional communication, contexts, genres, and contemporary business topics. I feel I have accomplished understanding professional communication from completing the Memo 1 assignment. In this assignment I clearly state many ways that I expect to use professional writing in the nursing field. I gave many examples of ways I would use these in the field as well. In my paper I wrote “I expect to use many types of professional writing during my nursing career. These include: charting patients progress, referring patients to doctors, writing treatment plans and clearing patients for discharge.” These few sentences show I am aware of professional communication and how it is used in the field of nursing.
The ways in writing may be important to my career, academics and in the work place is that it is always needed or required. To be a teacher I have to write emails, letters and lesson plans. In the workplace I have to be able to write down a call-in. A call-in is when someone calls to place an order. Writing is very important without writing I would not be able to get through life because somewhere I would have to write something down. Being able to write is a critical skill for my life, career, academics and in the work place.
To become a better writer, you must learn the importance of writing as communication. For this purpose, you must have a reason to write. For example your boss might asked you to write something very specific, whether this is taking notes of a conversation in a meeting, or preparing a report. Although, you might not be a good writer, you can work on becoming a good writer. First, you want to stay clear, simple, short, and concise. Even though there are many words to use, do not use too many big words, or overused clichés. To be more effective you have to have structure, to give clarity for your audience. Second, it is important that you keep an active voice. It is easier for your audience to understand. However, passive voice can be difficult,
I do not think of myself as a very good writer. I feel that my writing is always scrambled, and doesn’t quite flow like it should. I do like to write however, if the subject interests me. I would much rather write about a topic that I know a lot about, and care about. If I was to write a paper about dragons, it most likely would not be written very well because I don’t care about that subject. I like to write because it is something that I think can be fun. It also is a great way to express yourself in words.
Ever since I remember, I have always enjoyed writing. The fact that I can be able to put together a paper and have someone get my idea just with the first paragraph is mind blowing. Sometimes I can’t express myself through speaking so writing down my thoughts on paper has always been my therapy but also an important thing in my everyday life.
When I worked as a receptionist I always made sure to use a positive and confident tone of writing. My co-workers and I were good friends however, we always made sure to use professional style writing. Personally, I believe that everyone should use the same tone when communicating with their co-workers and other professionals.
A person is a fool to become a writer. His only compensation is absolute freedom (Ronald Dahl). If I had to choose five reason on why writing is important to me and my success it would be as follows: Employability, Efficiency, Expression, Progression, and Confidence. I chose employability because a well written resume could help secure you an interview. Progression is among these choices because good writing skills can help you stand out and get that promotion. One may ask the question, why efficiency? I chose efficiency because good writing skills allows you to avoid wasting hours rewriting letters, memos, and/or reports. I feel as though in any field of study you’re going to have to be able to express yourself to your employer, customers,
