“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.” that is a quote by Eric Thomas that I live by because I am highly motivated to be successful in everything I do. From school, to sports, and work, which I do my best in everyday. I push myself to be the best I can be so I can achieve my goals. My goals are to graduate high school, attend a 4-year university and attain a bachelor’s degree, then, use my education to become successful with that degree. I will reach those goals by working hard these last few months of high school and carry the traits I’ve developed these past four years, into college. I’ve gained many traits from school and sports that correlate well with college and success; such as a strong …show more content…
The biggest obstacle in my life was to overcome my father leaving me and my family when I was 13. This completely changed my whole life and I lost my purpose without having a dad at a very important time. Although it was a horrible experience, it made me turn my life around, and I became motivated to be the best person, and someday, the best father I could be--and to never be like mine. It also made me want to work hard in everything I do and be successful. I want to grow up to be ten times a better man than he was and to be successful and have a nice happy family--the family I wish I had. Nothing’s wrong with my family, but after that, many problems and tough times came upon us that I hope my family never has to experience. We became even more poor and had to fight through a ton of adversity. I was blessed to get my strong will and work ethic from my mother. I can tell by how hard she tries for us to be happy and how she never gives up. I have had to work several jobs in order to pay for the things I need as well as help out with my family. I know I have to do my part to make a difference for my family without my dad having a role in our
Four SMART Goals regarding my courses, and degree efforts that I would make is to have a final grade of an A for each course taken, finish my degree within two and a half years, make it Connecticut to walk across the stage for graduation, and obtain a master’s degree in Human Services. I feel like if I don’t push myself to succeed, no one else will. Aiming for the final course grade of an A is attainable if I put in the effort and dedication it takes to pass each course. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to obtain a college degree. Now that I am older I feel as if I should push myself a little further and not only set out to obtain a degree, but to graduate Cum Laude at the least. That is my ultimate goal. Finishing my degree within two and a half
My goals for the remainder of my high school career is to maintain my GPA, but also get myself more involved socially and physically active.
In my lifetime I haven’t really had big obstacles that I have had to deal with, but encountered few minor problems that I’ve tried to fix. For example, I have had trouble with my grades this year and was terrified that I wasn’t going to pass any of my classes. I had barely slid by with the grades that I had gotten first semester. I did not realize that final exams were put to your semester grade and was worried that would have major effect on my grades. On top of that I was stressed that my first two quarters were combined.
I think the biggest challenge I have faced and still face today, is being adopted from Russia. Based on the situation I was in, the chances of me being where I am today were definitely not in my favor. I was a 3 1/2 year old boy with no mother or father. As I got older the odds of me finding a forever home were getting slimmer and slimmer by the day. I was never supposed to be where I am today. God blessed me with two loving parents that adopted me, and brought me home to the United States. Although, I had a great life here in the U.S, I still faced the challenge of fitting in and being different from everyone else. I didn’t grow up in this culture or know these kids since birth. I was the different kid. The Russian boy, not the normal American
The goals that I plan to accomplish this year are to get on the lacrosse team and play, how I plan to accomplish this goal is by getting into shape for the season and when the time comes I will try out and hopefully get on the team. I will also try my best to maintain good grades in all of my classes. I will do this by completing all of my homework on time, studying for tests, doing what I am told, and completing makeup homework if needed. Academic attributes that I have are that I am good at math, writing, and reading. Using these I can excel and do well in my classes. What makes me successful due to my personal traits are I am good at art, drawing, photography, and lacrosse. I
Overcoming these obstacles has made me a mature and strong individual. I am proud of what I have accomplished, even with the hardships that I have had to face and my biggest goal is to make my parents proud.
Within my lifetime, I have encountered obstacles that have shaped me as a person today. For example, when I turned 16, I wanted to get a job to support my mother. I filled out many applications; however, I kept getting rejected. I began to get discouraged after a couple of months, but I didn't want to give up easily. I applied to a couple more grocery stores and once again, I got denied. One Saturday morning in May, my mother and I decided to go to Tysons Corner Mall to search for more jobs. I remained optimistic because I was determined to leave the mall with hopes of getting a job. After a couple of weeks, I got a call from Justice and the manager was interested in me and wanted to schedule an interview. I was very excited and I wasn't going
The expectation that I hold for myself in life is success. I have many goals I wish to achieve in my future; however, the only obstacle in my way is hard work and myself. Of my many ambitions there are still many out of my reach, but of the ones achievable without too many years passing are the issues I’m considering and preparing for already. More than anything, I wish to graduate as Valedictorian of my class, be accepted into a college with a free-ride, and when I move to my new school for senior year I will still try to follow my dreams no matter the challenge. After high school, I plan to attend several challenging colleges some ideas are UT Martin or Vanderbilt. This education will allow me to live my life as I wish; with a high paying
This quote has been my mantra of success in life and I have always made a conscious effort to put in my 100 percent in every endeavor. I believe that every individual has unique skills and the talents required to succeed in life, if only he puts in his best to realize his dreams. In spite of one’s limitations, it is important to systematically keep on doing what you do to be able to achieve the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Everyone in my family has had to go through their own separate struggles to achieve their goals, but we have gone through them as a unit. I have taken from the experiences of my older siblings and learned to work hard for anything that is worthwhile. I have consistently taken, head on, any obstacles that are in my way and worked my way through them.
In high school, I hope to excel. I want to succeed in everything I do. On the basketball and volleyball court, I am going to try my hardest to be able to play varsity. It’s always been my dream to play at such a high level in either sport. I have an ambition to also try and maintain a 3.5-4.0 GPA all throughout high school. Once you reach the doors to a bigger level, you want to burgeon. You grow throughout your life and I just want to accomplish as much as I possible
When I was about seven years old, I remember my parents telling me the news that my Father lost his job. Due to the economy, the company he worked for was going out of business and could not afford to keep him. Since I was so young, I did not fully comprehend the impact of what I was hearing. It wasn’t until we moved into a smaller home and had no extra money that I realized the extent of the situation. I began to see from a young age the impact money had on life; it controlled everything. My parents were constantly stressed about how they would pay their next bill or buy groceries for the week. I remember countless times when I begged God to give my family money and help my Dad find a job. Even though this prayer was not answered for many years later, God still showed me that He would always provide. Financial hardship has been an obstacle in my life for many years, but I know that God is using that obstacle to mold me into a stronger woman of Christ. From this obstacle, I have learned how to trust in Jesus even when it seems impossible.
It may be time for us to pick away out vacation wardrobe and ditch our swimming costumes for scarfs but that doesn't mean we should pack away our gym gear for another year. Staying fit and keeping away from comfort food during the winter months is difficult.
While we each have our own personal obstacles that we have to endure, I have taken both the positives and negatives from growing up and applied them in my life as an adult. When other individuals only saw the negative aspects to my childhood with both an alcoholic father and stepmother, I found the positive! I knew exactly what type of wife and parent I wanted to become. My husband tells me that I am his “best friend” and my two daughters call me a “superhero”. Neglect in my early childhood also taught me to be a parent who is present in my daughters’ lives and this is why I became very involved in their Title I school (containing more than 80% low socioeconomic status [SES] students). This awakened a desire in me to pursue and complete
My academic goal right now is to graduate high school with a 4.0. I plan to push myself to succeed in all my classes in order to achieve that goal. I plan to do so by focusing my time and energy on studying and also, not hesitating in taking up to new experiences in order to maximize my human capital. In addition, my goal is to be able to be self sustaining and independent. I want to be able to put myself to college with minimal parental help. And I plan to do so by work-study and scholarships. One of my biggest career goal is to at least have a bachelors in Computer Science at a prestigious school and to be able
