I’m an American born citizen and an immigrant to my own country. I was born in Saipan, Northern Marianas Island, USA. My dad brought me to the Philippines at age of three months where I lived for twelve years. I spent five years living in Dagupan City, Pangasinan with my parents before they decided immigrate to the U.S.. My sister and I lived with my grandparents for seven years in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur. During my seven years living in Ilocos, I learned how to speak Ilocano,Tagalog and a little bit of Capangpangan.
My academic goal right now is to graduate high school with a 4.0. I plan to push myself to succeed in all my classes in order to achieve that goal. I plan to do so by focusing my time and energy on studying and also, not hesitating in taking up to new experiences in order to maximize my human capital. In addition, my goal is to be able to be self sustaining and independent. I want to be able to put myself to college with minimal parental help. And I plan to do so by work-study and scholarships. After living in the United States for five years, I realize that we, Filipino-Americans, should do everything in our power to assist other filipinos in America and abroad. In my opinion corruption is the biggest barricade halting the country forcing them into poverty. I aspire to assist the countless citizens who are still underprivileged. My dream is to help aid the problem through education by teaching them technical skills and preparing them for the real world. They can use their skills to find jobs and be able to self sustain. When I first started college, my academic goals were to learn as much as possible, join a Christian fellowship, get into the criminal justice program, decide whether or not to go to graduate school, and to graduate in four years. In addition, to also to either get a job or get accepted into an internship. My overall goal was to enjoy and make the most out of my college experience. My career goals back when I was a freshman, were to figure out if I want to join law enforcement or go to law school and find a job in the field of criminal justice, while being happy working the job. Over the course of two years, some of those goals have been achieved and some goals have been changed.
Four SMART Goals regarding my courses, and degree efforts that I would make is to have a final grade of an A for each course taken, finish my degree within two and a half years, make it Connecticut to walk across the stage for graduation, and obtain a master’s degree in Human Services. I feel like if I don’t push myself to succeed, no one else will. Aiming for the final course grade of an A is attainable if I put in the effort and dedication it takes to pass each course. My second assumption is that they died from disease.
