My mother purchased a saddle for me before I was born. She knew I would be a cowgirl who loved horses, like herself. But what she did not know is that my love of horses would develop into something much greater. My past, present, and future endeavors have all been in pursuance of my goal: to be an equine veterinarian.
My experiences have prepared me to pursue my goal. I have owned and cared for horses all my life. Thus, I have gained useful knowledge regarding them and experience handling them. I furthered my knowledge and experience by job shadowing at an Equine Veterinary Hospital for a total of 108 hours. I assisted veterinarians with exams, treatments, surgeries, and autopsies. From shadowing, I have learned how to vet my own horses when they have minor ailments or injuries. I administer medications and injections, as well as clean, treat, and dress wounds. However, my knowledge is not limited to horses. I have taken two high school animal science classes covering a variety of animals.
Becoming a veterinarian requires a graduate degree in veterinary medicine. I have taken many steps therefore, such as taking online college courses to earn my degree faster, and applying for a college with a …show more content…

I maintain a 3.98 unweighted G.P.A. and a 4.0 weighted G.P.A. I have received outstanding achievement awards in all my core classes, and I am an Oklahoma Academic Scholar. These achievements are testaments to my avid work ethic and unswerving commitment to academic excellence. I will continue to be successful in my studies, just as I have in the past. Furthermore, my past experiences have increased the likelihood of me reaching my goal because they have provided me with valuable knowledge that will help me excel in Veterinary School and my career. They have also assured me that I am pursuing the right career. Lastly, it has made me eager to reach my goal. I am more motivated than ever
