In Unit 5 Discussion post, I was really struggled on writing a thesis statement. I read through Unit 5 Reading and its help. I got some helps with the thesis from the replied post. My professor replied with the post stated that my thesis needed to be more formal. I realized that I need to change my thesis to be more formal. I think to write a good paper I need to focus more on how to write a good formal thesis. I found out that as I wrote my draft I think my weakness is on writing a thesis. I also need to make some changes on my 3 paragraphs to flow better with my introduction. Someone once told me a Thesis statement is a map for the paper. I think my paper need a strong thesis to start off the paper. I realized that I need to have a clear
In your view, what are the three most important key ideas in regards to Infant and Toddler care and curriculum?
A text is the content in a message or any printed material. There are basic ways that are used in reading to make the learner gain, retain, and understand the content. For instance, one way is by applying the top, down, and bottom up strategy; which people use in their native language. Reading involves, previewing, predicting, skimming and scanning, guessing and paraphrasing (Tsai 120).

Over the past two weeks I have acquired 5 new schools. All of which are located in District 15. The DOE’s PreK For All program begins this school year, and thankfully, I was able to have the District 15 PreK director agree to implement the Sanford Harmony Program at her four sites. P.S. 676 has also agreed to implement during the 2015-2016 school year. I am in the process of rescheduling trainings that’s were scheduled during the first two weeks of school, due to the holidays. My first public school training on the new material will he held on 9/14/15. I am looking forward to trying out our new training PowerPoint and material.
As part of a restructure in a one form entry primary school, I was appointed the position of being part of the School Improvement Team and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). The SENCO role was previously overseen by the Headteacher whom I work closely with in relation to both of the positions I hold. As well as having these responsibilities within the school, I am a full-time class teacher in Year 2.
While the theme of ENGL 105 with Dr. Rowland is What We Do When We Read, I found the course’s effect on my writing to be the most beneficial result of taking this course. I learned how to formulate and transcribe an argument in an efficient manner. This is not to say that I did not also enjoy learning about various topics relating to the mental phenomena that occur when I read literature.
Writing is a skill that is learned, taught and most importantly dreaded by most students. This includes students of all ages but however if you have trouble with writing or coming up with a thesis statement you can always use the closed-open continuum. The closed-open continuum is a structure demonstrating different levels of determining how to propose your thesis and structure your writing. The closed side of the continuum is top down- thesis based prose, this means that you introduce your thesis at the beginning of the introduction. Top down-thesis based consists of your typical five paragraph essay. This also means that you will be introducing your thesis in the introduction paragraph. On the other side of the continuum is theme based narrative
Unit two literature review paper required me to brainstorm for research topics that I would want to explore pertaining to my major. A topic I found very intriguing was the impact of instant communication on globalization. I chose this research topic because I wanted to find out how the different means of instant communication such as emails, mobile phone calls, Skype video calls, text messages, fax, social media and to some extent the cloud affected how global business is conducted.
Can you feel it? I feel it too. The feeling of procrastination, anger, and pain of Mr. Hanlin assigning a new project that most of us feel we can put off, even though it is due in 2 weeks. I feel bad for the poor souls who lose class-time to work on the demon project, a moment of silence for the unfortunate. The idea for today's class was to learn how to write like a high-schooler. This meant Thesis Statements, Formal Language, and Introduction Methods. A Thesis Statement is very useful, even though it is an opinion. It may be debated and provides a layout for your paper. It is not an announcement, and helps the reader understand and navigate through the text. It is a work in progress, but it is whole.
* If you’re having difficulties writing a thesis, use the thesis generator in the Ashford Writing Center - https://awc.ashford.edu/writing-tools-thesis-generator.html. Remember, a thesis should make a claim – a definitive statement – about some issue. Here is an example: Effective communication is the most important factor in a successful relationship. Without it, chances are, a relationship will fail.
A strongly worded and provable thesis is essential for any form of writing. It is important because
In the first semester I struggled with writing a simple thesis. I struggled with making sure I have all parts of a thesis in the the thesis. Throughout the second semester I got better at writing the thesis though it wasn’t a high level thesis. On the Diagnostic Check for Huck Finn you comment on my thesis to “make it higher level”. I found couple of practice on thesis online that I did. As I went through the practice I realize that none of my thesis were wrong but they all could be better.
When writing an essay or summary, one of the most important factors I feel helps the reader understand what the essay will be about is the thesis. Having a well-structured thesis is helpful because it gives me an idea of what I want the general direction of my paper to be. For example, in my literary, in my thesis I write, “In the essay ‘Pride’ by Dagoberto Gilb, he shows how even though people are poor and Mexican American they can find pride in their culture, work, and success.” (“Have Pride In Where You Come From” Final 1). This thesis clearly states all three points and it is easy for the reader to understand that the essay will be about being prideful. Another example of a strong thesis is in my proposal essay, in my thesis I write,
In “Immersion”, the teacher recognized that Moises understood the math concepts, but was hindered by his low English proficiency. However, she failed to provide him with proper language support and interventions. I would have worked to “…scaffold instruction through flexible grouping that promotes interaction between the teacher and students, and among students” (Echevarría, Vogt, and Short 261). Moises could have benefitted from peer-assisted learning by being grouped with a Spanish speaking student who had a strong English proficiency level. I would have also modified my speech, provided sentence frames, modeled responses, and allotted Moises extra time to answer the question.
Another error of my writing process was not having a clear and specific thesis statement. I would often combined to many thoughts and ideas all in one sentence, which made it very difficult for readers to understand my main argument. For example, in my fourth essay about performance-enhancing drugs, my thesis “Athletes are constantly recognizable to the public eye; their actions can affect the children and adults for whom they serve as role models, which is why many athletes depend on the use of performance-enhancing drugs to better their performance,” was very vague and was not the main focal point of the essay which it should have been. In recent years prior, I never had any problems trying to convey my message or point. College was entirely a different league. My professor suggested that I read other research papers to better understand how my thesis should sound and be constructed. My professor then told me that I needed to add that explanation into the paragraph so the reader can understand exactly what I am trying to get across with
