The Myers-Briggs type indicator is a test that is designed to look for a psychological preference on how are seen in the world and how they make a decision. In essence allows on to see what kind of leader they are. The MBTI was created by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers. The way the test works is are you have answered the questions you will receive a 4 letter personality type. This will then correspond with a full breakdown of your personality type. Providing a very useful information. I conducted a version of this test online, in which my results came up to be an INTP. INTP stands for Introverts, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. Define (in your case) what each letter stands for1 The breakdown of my results of INTP includes …show more content…
I feel that I can relate to that very well, there has been many times where I have “zoned out” thinking of something else. Overall, I would describe myself as easy-going and reserved as long as everything is going smoothly and fairly, and not wanting to make a spectacle of myself. I feel that my result agrees with me 100%. One area that I found was extremely accurate is in the concern category. A major concern for INTPs is that there is a haunting sense of approaching failure and that they spend a considerable time second-guessing themselves. That is something that I struggle with all the time. From major decision to small ones. I look back at my actions for the last month and can pick out many times where I have second-guess myself, just to make sure my answer or method is correct. Many of the times it has been correct it now more just a habit for me than a real rhythm or reason. How do you feel you differ from the MBTI description of yourself? There is not much that I think is wrong from the MBTI description of myself. The description of the INTP is very accurate to me and the more I look at it the more it becomes prevalent that it is correct. One thing that I find slightly different is the recurring theme that INTP’s have an obsession with logical correctness which might lead to overlooking details. I agree that this is
I believe they were mostly accurate, especially the Meyers-Briggs type Indicator. I have always bene more quiet and reserved naturally. Others that do not know me do tend to see me as somewhat distant and aloof. I have learned to cope with this and took positive steps to combat this tendency. Before becoming a police officer, I took a job as a salesperson because I knew I would have to learn how to talk to people. While still naturally quiet and reserved, I can switch to more of an extrovert when the need arises. After researching further the traits of an ISTJ I found the decryptions to be very accurate. I have always had a strong sense of right and wrong, which led me to this career. I did think I would have been somewhat higher on the thinking scale. I am very logical and analytic by nature which is characteristic of
As I read more about my style, I can honestly say that there were few, if any, points that I disagreed with. In summary, I do not get my energy from engaging in large crowds. Analysis by paralysis is a real challenge for me, given I have a knack for the details. I won?t let my feelings get in the way of a decision which can be a relationship inhibitor if I don?t keep an eye on it. I Corinthians 14:40 and Ecclesiastes 3:1 will both maintain a special place in my heart; everything should have a time, place and purpose. My blind spots include my tendency to think that I?m right, which debatably I think I am. I may find myself facilitating ?win-lose? discussions and I tend to be extremely serious most of the time (Personality Type Explained, 1998-2017). My temperament is
According to the Jung Typology Test, I am an introvert (38%), intuitive (3%); and prefer thinking (19%) and judging (53%). Being an INTJ, I am strategic, imaginative, hard-working, and open-minded. I often analyze situations, alternatives, and perspectives; and use my creativity and rationality to find the best possible solutions. Additionally, I am diligent; I work efficiently and do not quit until I accomplish my goals. Furthermore, I continually seek for improvement and new opportunities.
They suggest that measuring one’s characteristics such as sociability, drive, self-determination and demeanor can aid one to better interpret and discern them introspectively. By taking the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) I am able to compare my personality traits to careers in which I may enjoy, will fit my individual personality and enable me to be successful say Drummond, Jones & Sheperis (2016). The results of my self-administered inventory are as follows; Introvert (I) 55%, Intuitive (N) 76%, Feeling (F) 86% and Perceiving (P) 67%. The four dimensions of the inventory seem to be very accurate for the manner in which I view myself. The result of INFP suggests that my personality shows a predominant association with being in a career in which I am able to care for others, such as a healer. This is a correlate with my first career as a firefighter and
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Personality (MBTI) was developed by Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Cook Briggs in 1943 during the onset of World War II (Ham, 2016). Briggs recognized the need for psychological instruments that would value human differences and utilized the C G Jungs theory in creating the MBTI (The Story of Isabel Briggs Myers, n.d). According to The Myers & Briggs Foundation (2014) Myers and Briggs initially tested a group of 20 relatives and friends. They utilized such sample, because they thought they could predict their personality solemnly on observation which by observation. The initial random sample did not truly represent a whole population, but merely were used due to availability.
According to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), I am an ISTJ personality this means that I am an Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging person. ISTJ are very faithful, loyal and dependable. We are also reserved people who are interested in a secure and quiet life. ISTJ’s place importance in being honesty and can be trusted to do the right thing for their families and friends. There are some weaknesses to being an ISTJ personality we are stubborn, insensitive, and judgmental. This test is amazing it really nailed my personality.
The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) personality inventory is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people’s lives. The essence of the theory is that much seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment. In developing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, their aim was to make the insights of type theory accessible to individuals and groups.
The results of my Myers-Briggs Personality type test were as follows: extrovert, intuition, thinking and judging. As I read what each category meant, I could see those characteristics within myself. I love to be around people, socializing or just people watching. I prefer things to be planned and to think of solutions outside the box. I also look at the big picture of things before making a plan of action. The following two stories display my thought process in different areas and the affects it had in my life or how I dealt with the situations.
Who are you? Many fortune cookies, horoscopes, and other whimsical devices attempt to tell us our personalities, or our combination of traits and behaviors that make up who we are. However, psychologists today deviate from those unsubstantiated methods and have concocted various personality tests that give us a better understanding of who we are. One such test is called the Myers-Briggs personality test. Based on theories by Carl Jung, but primarily created by Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs, the test gives people a standardized survey of questions to answer. Standardized, meaning the test is given and scored in the exact same way every time to give unbiased and accurate results. It scores people in four pairs of characteristics, so there is a total of 16 possible personality types. Each pair of characteristics are opposites and a person can fall anywhere between the extreme end of one opposite to the extreme end of the other. The pairs are extroverted and introverted, sensing and intuition, thinking and feeling, finally judging and perceiving. A person can have strong, moderate or weak tendencies towards a preference. (Rathus, 2010, p. 420) There is some criticism of the Myers-Briggs test however, not everyone fits into the categories. People may answer according to socially acceptable norms instead of their honest answers. Not all of the theories were proven, Carl Jung made many observations and deductions but they weren’t formally
During the power point on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, as the instructor went through the different types of personalities, I was able to recognize which subcategories I fall into almost instantly. When my computer personality test results were returned, I was correct. As I read the type descriptions of Extroversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging- ENFJ- I quickly recognized myself within the descriptive words.
John Adams once said, “Thanks be to God that he gave me stubbornness when I know I am right”. John Adams, like myself was introverted, intellectual, thinking, and judging, or an INTJ on the Myers Briggs personality test. Like all INTJs, Adams was stubborn and flouted the ideas of others that he did not agree with. By using my results from the Meyers Briggs personality test, I can examine how I react to certain things and use this to improve my Spirituality, my relationship with God, and ultimately my relationship with others through Christ.
The MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) has given me insightful information over 4 different dichotomies: 1)Where I focus my attention 2) How I take in information 3) How I make decisions based on the information and 4) How I deal with the world. After completing the assessment, I was dubbed ‘INTJ’. This being 9% Introvert, 38% iNtuitive, 3% Thinking, and 31% Judging. To my surprise, after reading the detailed report, I found most of the information presented, to be ‘spot on’. According to the Center for Confidence and Well-Being, “Of all the personality types, INTJs are most motivated by “vision”. They have a great need to come up with a unifying idea of a future, improved state, which is then their job to realize. This inner vision can be so strong for INTJs and so individual that they are often reckoned to be the most independent-minded of all the types” (Craig, C., 2014). This provided me with great validation that I have been lucky enough to find myself in the right career. Currently, I am the interim Director of Quality at an acute care hospital in San Diego. Daily, myself and my team are looking for ways to improve hospital processes, systems, and relationships. Always striving for a future vision or ‘ideal state’ of how we would like to see our organization functioning to better serve our community. Many people have told me that they could ‘not do what I do’ simply because of the data collecting, analyzing, reporting, and
Being an INTP means being a highly analytical and pensive person and I find that I fit this personality type to a tee. However the article also claims that the P (Perceiving) trait, has a 3% difference from the J trait. This means that I may have characteristics from both INTP and INTJ. As the description for INTP claims, I am often lost in thought, to the point that I can cleanly detach myself from an ongoing conversation, and still nod and say yes at all the appropriate times. I am also an argumentative person if I believe my beliefs and person are being challenged. Another point the article shines light on that resonates deeply with me is the characteristic of having a haunting sense of impending failure, however this is where I notice myself
An introverted intuitive thinker otherwise known as an INTP personality type is who I am.
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) enables an individual to gain a deeper insight into their inherent personality traits. For some people, they have had prior knowledge or underlying assumptions about their personality, but this test provides clearer information about each of their identifiable traits. According to the MBTI in Human-metric personality test, my scores were 22% (E) extroverted thinking more than introverted, 9% (N) intuitive as oppose to sensing, 16% (T) thinking more than feeling, and 12% (J) judging as compared to perceiving. Thus, my personality type is ENFJ. The ENFJ personality group is described as a minority group that consists of natural-born leaders, and people filled with passion, and charisma for example, Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey; they are notable members of this group, also known as the protagonists (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists apprehend pride in providing guidance for others to improve individually and to improve the community at large (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists find it naturally easy to communicate with others and excel at communicating with other people in person (16personalities, 2016).
