I read the adventure fiction book The Murk by Robert Lettrick. This book has 306 pages. According to a review on Amazon, "Middle school readers interested in beasts and mutant beings will enjoy this mystery/adventure book." I think this book is for middle school aged people. I say this because for younger readers, they maybe can’t read the words fluently. The characters are Tad, Piper, her brother Creeper, and two local guides. Piper is on a quest of finding a flower to her sister Grace. She’s desperate, hopeful, and proud. This takes place in the present day at the Okefenokee swamp where they’re looking for the rare flower. First, Piper’s sister, Grace has been sick and Piper is worried that Grace may die. During the summer I read two books, each both challenging and brilliant in their own ways. Those books were Kindred by Octavia E. Butler and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. Although both are great reads for students in Honors English, I have to say that Kindred is more appropriate to be added to the list of books to be read by Honors English 9th graders. Kindred is more challenging than The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, but in a different way than people might expect.

The family was instructed by their mother to bury the three men and to never speak of this incident ever again and they all swore to this family secret.
This was an interesting book and I also took the time to watch the movie as well which helped understand the characters, setting, and reasoning behind the writing a little better. The book opens up with Willie and Lymon headed to Pittsburgh with a truckload of water melon in the back. They arrive at Boy Willie sister’s house and he is eager to get inside to see her, for it has been 3 years. While Boy Willie is only there to grabbed the piano, Lymon has other plans to stay in Pittsburgh. While in the house, Willie continues to yell for Beatrice while the entire family is still sleeping. I was kind of shocked to see how upset Beatrice was and how quickly she wanted them to leave once she saw him. What Beatrice doesn’t know is that Wille plans
