Taking AP Literature and Composition will strengthen my reading and writing abilities, thus preparing me for future academic and career endeavors. Being an agent for social and political change, and other avenues of societal improvement demands that I have the skills to write with conviction and authority. Besides this, I love storytelling. If I take a regular English course, the paltry rations of literature and prosaic assignments will not be satiating, whereas an advanced course is a challenge to improve myself as a writer.
One goal I have for this class is to expand my repertoire of vocabulary. I also wish to refine my analytical and argumentative skills. Furthermore, I aspire to write with heightened clarity, nuance, and purpose. In addition, I’m interested in understanding metrical structure and learning how to express myself through poetry.

I will have other AP classes, such as Calculus, which exacerbates how daunting undertaking this class is.
I understand the responsibilities I will be accepting by taking this class, and I take it seriously. However, this will not deter me, and I anticipate seeing you and my fellow fledgling AP Literature and Composition students. Let us make this a memorable
Looking back at the amount of writing I’ve done for AP Literature, I can see growth in my understanding of poetry and of literature. There are skills and concepts that I need to focus on and refine as I continue on through the class, but I am confident in the abilities that I have picked up so far.
As the Fall 2017 term comes to end, I look back on what I have accomplished in this class. English 102 – Composition II was one of the most challenging and toughest class I have taken at UW-Stout, but feel as though it has helped me to improve my writing skills. Even before the semester started the feeling of anxiety had taken over, as writing has never been my strongest skill, but stayed positive and confident I would be successful. Much to my surprise, my instructor, Michael Critchfield quickly addressed that this class would not be easy and amazingly changed my views of writing throughout the entire semester.

In Freshman Composition I learned what metacognition means, and how it applies to academic writing. Next I learned about textual evidence and backing up your opinions with research. *I expect this class to help develop my writing skills, as well as find my voice in writing, all together I expect this class to be challenging but rewarding. Therefore I have set a few goals for myself, my first goal is to step out of my comfort zone and research topics I have never heard of before. My second goal is to not second-guess myself on my writing topics and/or choices. Furthermore I expect great things to come from this
One of the challenges high school seniors face is to choose whether to further their education or not. Many students choose to go on to college to get degrees or certificates, but many do not. College certainly is not for everyone. College is important though for people who want to obtain jobs that require getting a degree. I am a person who wants to get a career that requires a quality college education. I will experience many challenges and obstacles throughout my college education. I know taking a Composition and Rhetoric class will be one of these challenges. I am taking English 1101 because I have to in order to get my degree, because I want to get ahead, and because I expect to develop better writing and communication skills.
For those who have citizenship in America, who are living in “the land of the free and the home of the brave” as the American national anthem suggests, education for all has consequently become a fundamental column in our country. Yet the individuals receiving their education within a school setting have developed different thought processes on what is the mark of a successful student. Are these students successful only if their grade is a B or higher? If the grade does not take preeminence then what does in regard to education? The article “Student Expectation Seen as Causing Grade Disputes”, Specifically points out a common dispute among college students regarding grades. Colleges around the country have been having to handle a substantial amount of perturbed students complaining that they received a considerably
Students taking AP Language & Composition have generally taken Honors English I and II, this prepares students who are taking the class and makes the class easy for them.
I really enjoyed your class. I've learned a lot from you and feel like you've gotten to know me well. English is definitely my favorite subject, and I am proud of my grade that I received in your class last semester. As you may recall, I decided to self-study both AP Literature and AP English Language this year. When I told people that I wanted to take these exams as a junior, they all thought I was joking due to the fact that AP Literature is one of the toughest courses to self-study. Surprisingly, I found the inspiration to take these exams from the assignments and works of literature that we went through in your class. Without all the activities we did in class, I certainly would not feel as confident with my performance as I am now. On the actual test, I wrote my AP Lit
After taking honors English for the past three school years, I now want the challenge of taking a higher level course: AP literature and composition. At this point in my high-school career, I’ve been able to take three advanced classes, and I want this class on my belt as well.
1) Extra Credit: 15 points on poetry analysis. It helps students to develop skills, such as: to recognize the writers' voice, presence, writing skill and to discover their unique voices
As a junior, I had three AP classes: AP United States History, AP Language and Composition, and AP Chemistry. I thought taking them was going to be a breeze. As the AP tests approached at the end of the year, AP test preparation accelerated to levels where the question was not whether or not we had homework, but instead e how much time the homework would take to complete. My struggle came with preparing for the AP Chemistry test that coupled complex chemistry topics with difficult algebra. I took practice test after practice test, read test prep book after test prep book, and asked for help constantly on any perplexing concepts and any convoluted math problems. The time came and went slowly, yet very quickly.
For this class I want to overcome reading anxiety, and develop ways to be become a stronger reader and writer. I want to develop better writing skills by using proper grammar and spelling. Even though I have room to grow with writing I would say this is my strength in English over reading. My favorite form of writing is poetry and writing rhymes, I may have been influenced by my grandfather seeing as he wrote poetry in the local paper many years ago. My last objectives for this class is to learning new vocabulary words this would be useful not just in writing English papers, but for future reports writing in my possible
There are several reasons why I decided to take Honors English, but I'll start with the one that is the most important to me, and that is college. College is something that is very important to me, and I want to be prepared for it. When I graduate I plan to attend a school out of state or preferably study abroad, possibly Germany. Unfortunately universities tend to be very expensive, especially if it is not in the state you live in. In order for me to be accepted into a top school I will need scholarships, good grades, and an impressive transcript. By taking this honors English course I hope to increase my chances at achieving my goals.
A little background information about this course, your calculator is your best friend so don't lose it. This is a calculator-oriented course and it drastically cuts computation time. In the AP exam, you are allowed to utilize the calculator for the entire test. As for the workload, it isn't overwhelming and manageable. Regardless, always be on top of your work. If you put the effort and time for the recommended class, you'll receive a grade that reflects
I would like to enroll in Intensive English because it will help me gain experience for college. From what I’ve heard, AP courses have teachers that are into the subjects they teach, and students that are excited to learn. I mean, if everyone in the class was required to write this, I'm pretty sure they’re motivated enough. I have already read a few of the books that the class reads next year, and I enjoyed them.
