The argument of evolution versus creation has been going on for centuries. It’s a battle between ideas, concepts, and even religious beliefs. It’s the defining point that separates Christians from atheists. As a Christian, I believe that God created the heavens and the earth; therefore, I believe in creationism. In the debate of evolution versus creation, there are three things that prove that creationism is true: you can’t recreate evolution in a lab, life can’t come from non-life, and man and ape do not share a common ancestor. In this paper, persuasion is not the point; rather, it’s to give answers to questions that arise in an argument that defines who you are as a person. Let’s begin, shall we? First, you’ve probably heard many times that life arose from atoms from a chance explosion or something like that. People say it was “luck” or “coincidence” that just the right molecules combined at just the right time to create life, but there is no evidence. This chance occurrence has never been recreated in a lab setting, or any other setting for that matter. In fact, none of the major steps of evolution have been done again. Even if it started to happen again, there is still no proof because evolution, even according to secular scientists, happens at so slow of a pace that it’s impossible for us to observe it.
Another argument that evolutionists

As Christians, it is our responsibility to not only spread the Word, but to help other people believe it through true evidence. As new evidence arises, so do new questions. Any question can be answered in two ways: evolutionists’ way or creationists’ way. Each side provides totally opposite points, and makes you think differently. The way you see the world depends on what glasses you wear; which will you
Since the beginning of the human race there has been a lingering question as to the origins of man and how all living things acquired their characteristics. The two main theories that arose over time were Creationism and Evolution, both of which provided very distinct answers to this question. Creationism based its answer on the idea of a supernatural power or being that created the entire universe, man and the numerous other organisms that live within it. While, Evolution theorizes that all living things have the potential to change and grow over time into something new and different. So in other words, one theory suggests that humans and all the organisms on Earth are the result of divine design, while the other indicates that they
Despite great efforts to convince the opposing side, a battle still brews amongst creationists and evolutionists over the beginning of life and the universe, but neither opinions’ palpability can be firmly upheld through scientific manners. Since science can only prove hypotheses that are testable and based on current observations, neither creation nor evolutionary concepts can be proven with irrefutable evidence. However, regardless of the inability to prove either concept, most public school systems promote evolution as a scientific fact. Many students who lack firm beliefs about the origin of life believe what they are taught without giving any personal thought to the matter. Instead of robotically absorbing biased information,
When one embraces evolution, he takes a different mythical perspective from a. first is in the aspect of coincidence and secondly on time factor.
We’ve all heard of the argument. Creationism, the idea that God created all the species as they appear today, versus Evolutionism, the idea that all life evolved from simple bacteria to all the species that appear today, is a familiar controversy. Ever since Darwin first published the Theory of Evolution in his controversial 1859 book The Origin of Species, the debate has raged between religion and science.
Robert, a dedicated atheist, challenged Mitch, a Christian co-worker, to a creation-evolution debate. Mitch said he didn’t want to debate but he would be glad to have lunch with Robert. Now, at the restaurant, they sit at a small corner table. Robert immediately gives Mitch what he considers evidence for molecules-to-humankind evolution. Mitch decides to consider what Robert is saying instead of arguing. He asks, “What makes you think this is true?” Robert enthusiastically answers with a rationalization to support his “evidence.” Mitch says, “You probably have a reason for believing that this supports your proposition. Would you mind explaining your reasoning to me?” Mitch continually probes. He’s looking for something of substance. He’s looking
"Religious opponents of evolution began cloaking religious beliefs in scientific sounding language and then mandating that schools teach the resulting 'creation science' or 'scientific creationism' as an alternative to evolution." (P. 21) For these religious opponents of evolution, trying to argue by using language as a mask for their religious beliefs is a smart tactic to try. However, religion often has no science to it. This leads to the question of why are these religious opponents trying to create arguments to mask their religious beliefs in scientific language and why are they so threatened by the teaching of evolution. Evolution teaches that organisms gained their functioning and complexity through a process of steps to get there. Most
One of the most contentious issues with evolution vs. creationism or intelligent design is the assumption that one’s personal beliefs cannot be compatible with science. “Today science and religion are more often felt to be in conflict rather than in harmony” and it is often believed that acceptance of one is a complete rejection of the other (Phy-Olsen, 2010). This either/or mentality can be damaging to those coming from religious backgrounds such as: Christian, Muslim, or Jewish, especially when evolution has become synonymous with atheism. But like the film and our textbook have expressed, evolution can be compatible with various religious groups (Stearns & Hoekstra, 2005). Of course, not everything in an individual’s religious beliefs will
Evolution simply talks about “the origin of life through natural processes” (Lamoureux). From a true scientist’s view, it is preposterous to even think of letting creationism venture into the science world and become one with the community due to the insurmountable evidence at hand. Not everything, however, is at ease of access to the public, making it mildly difficult to gather information to write or type a paper, unless the person is a professional. Creationists on the other hand think that due to the “scientific” information they have believe that they deserve the right to collaborate with public schools which is completely reasonable. Creationism very simply states that “the world was made by a creator”. Evolution is about the evidence that is on hand and can be observed by any of the senses while creationism is not really concerned with why or how the world was created but more along the lines of the “fact” that the world came along from creation and nothing else
Rather, I have merely stopped worrying about the great debate of Evolution vs. Creationism. I find this debate to be pointless because very little can be gained from it. Two disadvantages to an effective debate on this particular topic is having a lack of conclusive scientific evidence to resolve the issue and having a lack of open-mindedness on the part of both groups. We are still very limited to the historical records and understandings of the universe; therefore, it makes it extremely difficult for both sides to get an advantage over the other. It is obvious that evolutionists and creationists have a lot of differences, but they do share something in common: they both have a tendency to oversimplify their justification of the process of how life
Why do people believe in evolution? Perhaps the most common reason would be that it
The debate between creation and evolution has been around for a long time. For much of it, it has presented a choice between the two. Some claim that you either believe in God or evolution, not both. Others, that you have to choose young earth creationism simply because theistic evolution is not a viable option. Still more present young earth creationism as a naive understanding of both the Bible and science. However, since each position has evidence in support of it and against it, it is in no way true that any of them present us with an undeniable position of definite accuracy. Furthermore, the idea that there is only a choice between creation and evolution is false. Indeed, there are more positions than even creationism and theistic
The debate between creation and evolution has been going on for many years. On the surface it seems like the only thing being debated is which one actually happened and which is false. But there is more to these beliefs. Both affect or lives and the way we live. This is also what is being debated. How you value life is extremely important as I will show. We need to be careful what we choose to believe because it will affect our lives.
Evolutionism vs Creationism has been one of the largest ongoing debates ever since Charles Darwin threw his theory on the table. So far, neither argument has enough evidence to be proven, yet we still teach one as fact in public education.
I became a Christian at the age of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a series of random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false.
Many Christians believe in the fact that there is an intelligent designer who created the earth and the species that inhabit it (Patterson, R, n.d.). There are no true accounts or eyewitnesses of the creation of origin of life (Patterson, R, n.d.). The Bible is one of the ways people account for the creation of species, resulting from an intelligent designer (Patterson, R, n.d.). For a Christian how life came to be is nothing to worry about, the bible clearly states that God called all animals, plants, and human to be in his likeness. An example of natural selection that evolutionists would use if is someone had a half eye, what is the use of a half eye? (Leone, B. 2002). How could natural selection use an eye that is nowhere near to perfect, basically a flaw (Leone, B. 2002). This would suggest of a perfect system, something that could not fault and would have no faults in it (Leone, B. 2002). If there was such a complex and perfectly designed system against evolution if would provide a huge problem (Leone, B. 2002). God gave breath to him and gave him life (Origin of Life). Some could say that Adam, since he was created from the dust of ground would say that he came from a non living organism as evolution would want someone to think. “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy” (NIV
