This will reduce future conflict between carers and parents.
Keep good communication and relationship with parents to fully understand each child’s individual needs, i.e. Allergies, medical conditions, medication, specific needs and diet requirements. Ensure a clear understanding and have the correct information details from parents,i.e. Addresses, phone numbers, names of family members and what’s their relationship to the child and who will be picking them up in an emergency and what are their contacts should an emergency occur.
To avoid hazards and accidents occurring put measures in place for example. Fire guards, safety gates to block off areas that are not child safe. To avoid children touching dangerous appliances, equipment put in place safety socket covers, locks on cupboards, drawers, cooker, and washing machine. Do not use blinds with cords to avoid strangulation and have ponds covered or in a restricted area to avoid a child draining. Have a checklist in place for each room and regularly risk assesses each room for possible threats.
Keep all main doors locked to prevent a child escaping and intruders entering however keep keys in an easy obtainable place out of reach of children but in case of an emergency.
Fit smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your setting and test them regularly.
Have a clear emergency plan in place if an
One of the most important things that parents can do for their children is keep them safe. However, there are so many dangers that parents may not even be aware of. Many parents do all that they can to protect their child, and it is still not enough. Every big piece of furniture or television comes with a small bag of hardware. This is something that many people often end up tossing aside.
If an individual opens the door without knocking to make the staff in the room aware that someone is entering they can push the door into the children which can cause them to fall over. This could cause bruising or cuts to head, legs or arms depending how they fall. Also as the doors are not very heavy the children are capable of opening them themselves and leaving the room that they are in. If this is unnoticed by any of the staff the staff it puts the child in great danger if they leave the building or if they choose to hide in another area. Ways to resolve and minimise the risks of these hazards occurring again would be to replace the old doors with new fire doors which would be heavy enough so the children would be unable to open them. The doors would also have a thin strip of glass so the individuals can see inside before entering although they should knock and wait for response to. A finally idea to minimise this risk would be to fix finger guards to the hinges of every door so no one’s fingers can be caught in between.
Removing all fall hazards and install adequate lighting and safety devices in the house including the hallways and bathroom.
The first advice, I will tell her is to make sure that she knows all of the licensing regulations for your child care setting. The second advice, I will tell her to look around the house and make a list of the materials that she needs to make sure her daycare is in a safe environment. The third advice, I will tell her is to make sure that she has a safety checklist that she can follow to make sure everything is in the right place. The Fourth thing I will tell her is to install a camera inside and outside of daycare so she can keep a watch on some things. The Fourth advice, I will give her is to make sure that the toys and food are not choking hazard.
be able to recognise signs of neglect, abuse and those who may need additional support.
In order to be healthy and have a good future children need special skills that their caregivers must help them learn. Being self-aware, able to overcome stress, be in command of your feelings and have a belief system are tools the child will use throughout their lifetime, therefore, the teachers must be able to communicate effectively with each other and the parents. After all, instructors in childcare settings guide the children to make smart choices that keep everyone in a state of wellness and safety. In order to help the kids grow mentally and socially, the caregiver needs to have these skills as well and use creative methods. These methods will teach the minors kindness, how to make smart decisions, be positive about themselves and use nice and proper language with others
