In The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Turtle Wexler ultimately experienced a gigantic change in character, she matured. Some argue other characters underwent more important experiences, but Turtle also went through an important change. In the beginning of the game, signed the receipt as, “TURTLE WEXLER, witch,” (Raskin 39). Turtle signed the receipt in a childish way. She signed the receipt using her nickname, Turtle and witch, her Halloween costume. When Turtle signed for the last time, she signed as, “TURTLE WEXLER, financier,” (Raskin 169). As Turtle played The Westing Game she found her true self, she developed into a stock market investor, and took herself seriously. Although she still signed as Turtle, she now went by T. R. for Tabitha
Have you ever heard of someone with 5 identities and a networth of 200 million dollars? Barney Northrup is one of the most important characters and very foundational to the story in The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. First of all he sold all the apartments in sunset towers, he is Sam Westing, Windy Windkloppel, Sandy Mcsouthers, and Julian R. Eastman, and he founded the Westing game. This mystery novel would not come together without the mysterious Barney Northrup.
In the Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, Sanger Rainsford is shown as smart, skillful, and brave. Rainsford is being brave when he jumps off a cliff into the water. “Then he leaped far out into the sea” (Connell 80). When he jumps into the water, it proved that he was brave because he was willing to do anything to get away from Zaroff. As much as Rainsford is brave though, he is equally smart. Rainsford is extremely smart with the way he handles being forced to play “the game”. “He thought of a native trick he has learned in Uganda“ (Connell 78). With the traps and the way he acts, he is smart and knows what he is doing. He knows how to build those traps or how to act because of experience and
The Westing Game starts out with the delivery of six letters signed by Barney Northrup, to six different households on the Fourth of July. The letters offer a once in a lifetime chance to rent an apartment at the new and luxurious Sunset Towers, located on the shores of Lake Michigan. However, in the movie, Sunset Towers was located in the city. In the book, Sunset Towers was built mostly of glass and stood five stories high. Noticed in both the book and movie, Sunset Towers oddly faces east instead of west where the sun actually sets. In both the movie and the book, Barney Northrup manages to rent all the apartments out to the six hand selected households, which includes the Wexler family, the Theodorakis family, the Hoo family,

Mr. Samuel Westing creates the intriguing Westing game. This game will keep anyone interested and reading all night long. Someone once said, “You can’t change people, either accept who they are or start living life without them.” This relates to the Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, because in the book, one of the main characters, Turtle, changed throughout the story. At the beginning of the story, she was rude, but at the end she was kind and trustworthy and this showed through her choices, actions, and dialogue. What I have learned is that change is possible if you try.
My overall position is that Mr. Hoo murdered Mr. sam Westing. Mr. hoo hated Mr. Westing for stealing his idea for the invention of the disposable diaper. On page 53 of the Westing Game, Mr. Hoo says,” That Cheating money-bag got what he deserved.” And therefore my reasoning for why this is relevant is , Mr.Hoo is jealous of Me. Sam Westing because he used the disposable diaper idea to produce millions of dollars. Mr.Hoo was especially mad at this because after stealing his idea, furthermore, Mr.Westing was living the good life, But Mr. Hoo was still living the inconvenient way. And with this idea, he could have been living normally. My second claim is that Mr.Hoo is a mean person. On page 83 Mr.Hoo says “anyone with the brain the size of an
I read the scary and suspenseful book called “Ghost House” by Paul Kropp. There were four kids (Tyler, Zach, AJ, and Hammy), and AJ made a bet that Tyler and Zach could not stay in the Blackwood house -that was originally haunted- for 12 hours without getting scared and leaving. I thought they would leave but it turns out that they stayed the full 12 hours and in the end they ended up winning the $200. One of the things I took away and I think that everyone should take something away like this from it is that you should never make bets that you don’t have any information on. Tyler and Zach didn’t know much about the Blackwood house and they made the bet anyway. This ended up in them almost losing their lives. I would recommend this book to
