In The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Turtle Wexler ultimately experienced a gigantic change in character, she matured. Some argue other characters underwent more important experiences, but Turtle also went through an important change. In the beginning of the game, signed the receipt as, “TURTLE WEXLER, witch,” (Raskin 39). Turtle signed the receipt in a childish way. She signed the receipt using her nickname, Turtle and witch, her Halloween costume. When Turtle signed for the last time, she signed as, “TURTLE WEXLER, financier,” (Raskin 169). Suspense is defined as the author withholding information or when the unexpected happens, leaving you guessing and wanting more. In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, he has inserted much suspense in this short (long) story, for the reason that it makes the reader want to know more and having to mindset of excitement or surprise. Another reason he added many suspense is so that it wouldn’t be so blunt, it wouldn’t just tell us what happened it would give us details and how he got or how he did that and more.

In every story, there are many things to analyze. In “Game” by Donald Barthelme, he shows us the way our minds start to work in stressful situations like how the narrator and Shotwell started to respond while controlling the console for the war. In “Game” the narrator’s name is never told, Shotwell and the narrator do not trust each other, but are left alone together and trusted to kill the other if they start to “behave strangely,” although it is never clarified what counts as strange and what counts as normal. Various literary devices are used throughout the story to show us Barthelme’s intended theme, some used are: repetition, symbolism, irony, and figurative language.
After reading The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Turtle is a dynamic character. At the beginning of the book, the character is neglected; eventually, the character becomes genuine and Kind Hearted. These character traits were observed through Turtle's actions, dialogue, relationships, choices, and problems. Turtle towards the middle and the end of the book is nice. This connects to my life because Turtle is very nice like my two little sisters.

By the time Connell passed away he had published over 300 short stories.
