Have you ever dealt with monsters? There are many different definitions of monsters. There are the monsters from the movies, the ones you thought were hiding in your closet or under your bed, and the monsters in our society. All of the monsters are bad and scary, some with good intentions, some were created to be bad. All are still monsters; they cause harm and affect lives. I believe stress is a monster and many other people do too. More than 1 in 4 Americans have gone through a great deal of stress in just one month. Stress is a monster in our society because it affects your life and overall health. Stress is a monster because it affects your life. Stress affects your life in many ways. First stress can affect the people around you. Stress will give you low energy and make you feel restless and overwhelmed. When feeling that way it can rub off on other people and cause them to feel the way you feel or it will just annoy them. I have personally experienced this with my parents. Whenever they come home stressed from work it changes the whole atmosphere and can change a good day into a bad. Stress wears down your immune system and affects every part of your body. According to Brian Krans, stress also causes sleep loss, headaches, and high blood pressure. These things may not be terrible but if they continue they will increasingly get worse. Stress also can badly damage your heart because of stress hormones that cause your heart rate to increase.
