Career Paper
December 15, 2015 Teacher Many people will tell you that the person who inspired them the most was a teacher. They inspire us and prepare students for a higher level of education. They teach planned lessons and the needed skills students will need in the future when they attend college and when they seek employment. High school teachers will see various different classes throughout the day and may teach different grade levels and different types of classes that pertain to their level of specialty (Echaore-McDavid). Though no matter what or who they are teaching, their goal is the same, success for the students. Teachers assess the students in their classes to determine their strengths and weaknesses of the given material (Bureau). The parents of the students and the teachers also have a level of communication outside of the classroom (Bureau). Teachers communicate with the parents to assess the level of success the student has and to work with the parents to help the student . There are two types of ways that a teacher may choose to instruct the class. These are didactic teacher or evocative teaching. Didactic teaching is teaching through demonstrations or lectures (Ed). Evocative teaching is instructing the students through aid and focusing on the students discussions to teach a new topic (Ed). Everything a
Teachers need to get through students on order to teach a student. Some students might not show up or care about the class. Teachers of elementary schools have the hardest because the kids just want to play, goof around and don’t listen. Elementary teachers have hard time teaching young uneducated students just like Miss Moore with her uneducated children from the neighborhood, in the story “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara. Miss Moore teaches the students how to take the first step toward a better education just like elementary teachers, her teaching method were to show how the upper class lived in comparison to the children but she could have though them differently by giving rewards for something they did educationally.
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.

Montclaire Elementary School (MES) is a Title I neighborhood school located at 5801 Farmbrook Dr., Charlotte, North Carolina. The building was built in 1957-1958 and sits on a large, beautiful campus with a new playground and sports field that are maintained by the parks and recreation association. Montclaire is part of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), an urban district of over 145,000 kindergarten through twelfth grade students attending in the 164 schools. For this evidence I analyzed the organizational structures, management routines, budget operations at MES, both internally and externally. Information from the NC Report Card, the TNTP Instructional Culture Insight survey, interviews/surveys I conducted, and current processes that already exist at MES, were reviewed and analyzed in order to provide an accurate analysis of this school.

Students living on campus at Sheridan College are required to purchase a meal plan when they enroll, which consists of certain amounts of meal swipes and flex dollars. Meal swipes are worth about $8.99 and each flex dollar is equal to one dollar. This year, students can only use meal swipes at dinner between 5-7 p.m., Monday through Sunday as well as for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Flex dollars can be used at all the other times. The cheapest meal plans cost $1,400, and depending on which plan is chosen, students are offered a range of 80-110 meal swipes and $450-660 flex dollars. The dining hours Monday through Friday for breakfast are 7-10:30 a.m., lunch hours are 10:30-2 p.m., and dinner hours are 5-7 p.m. Dining hours for brunch on Saturday and Sunday are 11-1 p.m. and dinner hours are 5-7 p.m. Because students are only allowed to use meal swipes at dinner, many swipes are not being utilized.
Although I have had many different types of teachers, there are two that stick out more than any others. The first was my third and sixth grade teacher. She was the best teacher I ever had. The second was my seventh grade teacher. She was the worst I think a student could have had. Both, these teachers had very different teaching styles and very different out looks on teaching. To be an effective teacher the teacher must respect the student and be willing to go the extra mile to help the students learn all they can. In this paper, I will discuss the effectiveness of these two teachers and how their teaching styles differed.
Today, teachers strive for the creation of positive and influential learning environments for all students. Moreover, they aim at increasing children’s chances of succeeding. They constantly re-evaluate their teaching strategies for educational improvement of students. Teachers create supportive and respectful school environment that makes students strive for more prosperous and eventually rewarding lives. According to Deborah Tannen, the teacher’s encouraging and
High student success only can happen if the teacher impacts the student. When a teacher becomes a teacher-leader they are the most significant factor in helping improve their student’s achievement. As it mentioned in the book a
Most teachers come to school and teach and they don’t even have the passion necessary to. They just do it because they have to or based on salary or vacation timings, as those are benefits most teachers enjoy. On the other hand, teachers that teach with a passion and love teaching are teachers that encourage students to love learning. This is why most of the student including myself feels that studying is not so interesting because we have to do it in order to make our paretns and teachers happy. This can provide an explanation as to why we are always worried about studying for a quiz or a test. On the other hand, some teachers like to develop some sort of a connection with their students. This connection can lead to a type of trust and personal connection between the teacher and his/her student. This allows the student not to have as much pressure in understanding the concept of this certain course. For example, Mr. Keating developed his turst with his class by understanding and knowing his students. He made them feel comfortable in talking to him. He also taught them lessons about life and how to face obstacles. In fact, Mr. Keating reminds me of my French teacher in grade 9. She used to always give us advice in life, which is why her class was always my
"Some teachers may work with students to create the class environment; others may force a class environment upon students" (Zawondiak 124). Regardless of the approach the teacher might decide to take, she holds the power even before a student walks into class. The teacher is the one that chooses what materials are going to be used during the school year. She creates and plans lessons that are going to be used during class time. How children are going to be assessed and placed in levels that fit the children's capabilities. And finally, the teacher decides what set of goals she might have for the class, the different set of teaching techniques she would like to use and the set of expectations she might have for each students. The teacher is the one that decides what she wants to concentrate on, how to go about teaching it, and the outcomes she expects from the students.
The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career. Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective.
