The opportunity to observe students in the elementary school I once attended was very eye-opening. The elementary school teaches children who attend this school are kindergarten to fifth grade. The classroom I am observed are students between nine and ten years old and are currently in the fourth grade. When I arrived on campus there were many things that have changed and the relationship between teachers and students is a lot closer now than from what I can remember from the late 1990s- and early 2000 years. The school now displays murals and colorful art projects designed by students and displayed throughout the hallways.
When I arrived on campus, I was greeted by a group of volunteer parents and one security guard. They were very friendly and directed me to the main office so I could check in. I then met with the principal who was already aware of my observation and was delighted to walk me to the classroom of my observation. The current principle Rita Exposito began in 2010 and has been with the school ever since. She explained to me some of the changes around the school he believed I was not aware of and gave me a brief background on how the mission of the elementary changed since becoming Andrew Jackson Stem Dual Language Academy.
Jackson Elementary School began its transition to fostering a better learning environment fall 2012 within a kindergarten class. From the first class, they then received a higher budget from the Pasadena Unified School District to
I was placed in a 2nd grade classroom at Bailly Elementary School for about 9 weeks. Bailly Elementary is a public school within the Duneland School Corporation of Indiana. It supports Kindergarten through 4th grade students, and currently serves about 450 students in 20 classrooms, one of which is a hearing-impaired class. The grade levels themselves are contained in separate parts of the building, each consisting of around 4 to 5 classrooms, similar to a pod-style layout. It has a counseling center for students to utilize at will and is equipped with aides and other specialists as needed. The facility has a full-sized library and gymnasium, along with a computer lab, and cafeteria.
On February 1st, I visited the Britton Macon Area School. The teacher I observed was Ms. Richardson. She teaches a self-contained classroom for middle and high school grades. I started the observation at 8:00 A.M. until 11:32 A.M.
This is actually the first time i've felt welcomed in a school. Almost all the teachers are there to help and answer your questions if you have no clue but most importantly they are all there for the same reason and that reason is to help the students. All the teachers want to see the students succeed and improve. Honestly the location of the school is not the best but the teachers make the best out of it. The school recently invested in a safe security system and the school has many beautiful cesar chavez
During the months of September and October this semester I spent time at two different schools in four different classrooms. Being able to observe different classes and teachers at Westside Junior High and South Live Oak Elementary was a very new and exciting experience for me since I can’t say I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. My experiences at these schools gave me a better insight into the differences between schools, classrooms, and teachers. The purpose of this field experience was to get 10 observation or tutoring hours in an elementary or junior high setting. I chose to observe a
When you see the desolate sky above you, Mary Shelley was constantly surrounded by a dreary sky. Like many poets and writer before and after her, she took her surroundings and managed to spin it into a message of climate change. Much of the motifs within Frankenstein inhibits Gothicism but overall encompasses more of a romantic theme. Shelley avoided modern motifs of her time and focused on a much more gothic and romantic hybrid. The story of Frankenstein is very character driven; the character of Victor Frankenstein is a very complex individual but also is prone to madness.
In that class, the student learns about different teaching methods and how to care for children. As part of the curriculum, we volunteered at Long Elementary as teacher aides. Working with 4th grade students and observing an everyday class room was such an awe-inspiring experience. I had a completely new perspective about teachers. I have so much more respect as before. Teachers put so much time and effort into helping children for their benefits. I knew from the first day I helped with Ms. Williams’ 4th grade class, how much a teacher is a positive influence on children. There is an overwhelming feeling when you help a student with a problem and in return they give you the most heart-warming smile. The experience at Long Elementary helped me make my final decision on whether I wanted to teach elementary or secondary school. As much as I enjoyed helping elementary students, in my heart I knew secondary school was the path God had in store for me.
At 1:00 p.m. I entered into Evoline C. West Elementary school on Thursday, July 12 2012 for an interview with Mrs. Yolanda Lawrence. As I entered the classroom, I was greeted by Mrs. Lawrence, the head teacher in this classroom. Mrs. Lawrence has no assistant at this present because of it being in the summer. After I entered into the classroom, the entire class welcomed me with “hello Ms. Flournoy”. It made my day to see all of those smiley faces greeting me. This was a 2nd grade classroom which consisted of 17 students of which 8 were girls and 9 were boys. This interview and observation was a total of 2
The topic of medical Marijuana brings much controversy when discussing amongst people that are for it or against it. Medical Marijuana has been the heated topic of discussion for the past few years now mainly for it’s medical benefits and the fight to decriminalize the herb.
The rooms were inviting, and the students were engaged in learning. I quickly noticed that having a positive, and inviting classroom environment is of upmost importance for successful student learning. As the students walked through the second grade classroom they were greeted with a hug. When the students’ finished their morning work, the chimes signaled the students to line up, and transition to their first class of the day which is Science. This is where I was able to observe both Mrs. Stanford, and Mrs. Taylor
Classroom observation is a main approach of teaching research. Scholars or researchers use video to record the real whole class and observe the teachers and students’ actions, words and the efficiency in the class. Though the observation, they analyze what approach is more suitable. This paper will select video 5 and video 3 as the material to do the classroom observation. Different aspects such as teachers’ responds, questions, instructions notes and students’ behavior will be addressed to analyze the efficacy of this class.
It is really amazing how excited students get with the possiblity of using the computer in the classroom to assist them with their lesson. The teacher added that she uses it as a reward system, stating how affective it is in maintaining order and control in the classroom. Students knew how to navigate, go to various websites that were related to the lesson and create a folder in which to put their assignments in.
For my observation, I was assigned to Swaney Elementary and it is located in Derby, KS. Swaney serves 304 students starting at Early Childhood – 5th Grade and that includes an Interrelated program. The student teacher ratio is 14:1, this school is open to the public; this school is also a Title 1 school. Since my area of interest is in elementary education, I have chosen to observe a Kindergarten classroom.
This is an excellent model to analyze the industry. The analysis of the industry is essential for choosing the strategy. Factors that influence an industry influence all companies within that industry and every company reacts to those factors. The attractiveness of an industry is measured with the average profitability. According to Porter, the competitive rivalry has great impact on the profitability of an industry. Different intensity of the competitive rivalry causes the differences in the profitability degree. The biggest profits are realized in industries with moderate performance of competitive rivalry while the industries with the extreme acting of competitive rivalry, like monopoles, suffer from the profitability crisis.
I chose to observe Mrs. Tijerina for my classroom observation. There are many reasons why I decided to observe Mrs. Tijerina. I elected to observe Mrs. Tijerina so I could see another teacher’s perspective on teaching Spanish, as she and Mrs. Fiechter are the only Spanish teachers in the school. Furthermore, I never had Mrs. Tijerina for Spanish 2, as the teacher I had left Adams Central. Additionally within the hour I was observing, there were many sophomore students that I knew personally so I was able to ask them on their options of the class. Finally, Mrs. Tijerina’s goal was to teach in a similar way to Mrs. Fiechter’s teaching, and by observing her I was able to compare and contrast the two
Many of the things that we have talked about in class were illustrated for me in
