The school was a failing school a couple years back until the principal Ivette Marquez took over and it's now a B+ school. The school is a leader in me school so they practice the seven habits daily and incorporate them in their daily lives. Usually when the teacher is explaining a lesson I sit and explain in depth and with more examples to the ELL’s. While we do reader's workshop I work with them on their sight words and have them read to a buddy. When the students practice reading I have them coach each other if they don't know a word. This is actually the first time i've felt welcomed in a school. Almost all the teachers are there to help and answer your questions if you have no clue but most importantly they are all there for the same reason and that reason is to help the students. All the teachers want to see the students succeed and improve. Honestly the location of the school is not the best but the teachers make the best out of it. The school recently invested in a safe security system and the school has many beautiful cesar chavez
It is essential to understand English language learners’ needs because ELL students face the combined challenge of learning all the academic content as other students, while also learning the language of instruction. With the rapid growth in the size of the ELL student population in the U.S., teachers who are effective recognizes ELL students unique academic needs, unique background experience, culture, language, personality, interests and attitudes toward learning for the purpose to adjust, or differentiate, their instruction to meet students’ needs.

School board members across the country want to better serve the students who are English language learners. Because countless English language learner students spend part of their academic day in a regular classroom, the general education teachers need to be trained to understand instructional strategies and techniques to aid in advancing this population of students (Stover, 2015). Consequently, it would also be beneficial for school board members to support the bilingual and English Language Learner Specialist in training all teachers in the district on ways to better serve this population.
Ginny Osewalt shares with her readers five common techniques when working with students that have difficulties in learning and those whose principal language is not English. Osewalt prompts educators to keep in mind that the pace within the classroom my need to be slowed down to accommodate or stepped up to challenge individual students. She also stresses that all teachers need to use a variety of methods to meet all students needs and varied learning styles.
Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, Arizona March 31, 1927. He is one of the five children from the Chavez family. The Chavez family was always known to be kind-hearted people who always offered their services when needed. When Chavez was a teenager his sister, Rita, would help him give farm workers and neighbors car rides to the hospital. Not once did they accept the money offered to them as payment.

When trying to communicate diversity issues with parents about certain needs in your class for their child may be difficult. Especially, when trying to communicate among parents of ELL (English language learners) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students. Some of the difficulties you may run into are language barriers, misunderstanding of dialect, offensive gestures, and even frustration. As teachers when need to keep a cool head on our shoulders and approach this situation with a positive attitude, a plan, and a great expectation of the outcome.
All these strategies gives all students an equal opportunity to practice English, participation and involvement. ELLs students when it’s time to read or participate in class they may be reluctant to speak because of their lack of proficiency in English or feel uncomfortable in an environment where they have to share their ideas. I would suggest that the teach speak slowly and provide enough time for the ELL student to think about a response because the students are translating words to English in their minds..

Cesar Chavez, civil rights activist and a prominent role model in the Hispanic community, stated that “We draw our strength from the very despair in which we have been forced to live. We shall endure.” At this point in my life, I have been forced to surmount conflicts that otherwise seem impossible. I recall the copious amounts of personal sacrifices that my parents have made in order to provide a better future for my siblings and I. Thus far, I have been able to overcome a multitude of challenges in order to get to the point that I am today. Regardless of the opportunities that I have been able to take advantage of in the past, 4-H has helped mold my siblings and I into the mature and motivated individuals that we are today.

She mentions she is not concerned about reaching the ELLs because they can speak English.
English Language Learners (hereafter referred to as ELLs) currently comprise 10% of the total school population in the United States (National Center for Education Statistics, 2005). It is a population that is going to continue to increase in American public education and their specific needs for learning literacy are of great importance to teachers. Since schools and teachers are increasingly judged based upon the academic achievement of students, then the success of the growing population of ELLs is going to be increasingly important. In the present paper the role of the teacher and specific research-based literacy strategies for ELLs is investigated.
